Memories from a three-day trip to Kythira!
In Kythira, the island of Aphrodite, where mythology meets reality, every stone, every wave, every wind whispers a story. On my three-day trip, I immersed myself in a world full of colors, aromas and sensations, where the past and the present become one. This text is a journey through my memories, a journey through the paths of beauty and history, where myth and reality dance together.
Arrival on the Island of Aphrodite
The sea breeze, full of secrets and stories, welcomed me to the island of Aphrodite. Kythira, a place where myth and reality dance together, invited me to discover its secrets. The town, with its white houses and mansions in the narrow streets, was like a painting coming to life before me. The large Venetian Castle, silent guardian of history, gave me a breathtaking view, a panorama where the blue of the sea met the sky. At Kaladi beach, the crystal clear waters and the imposing rocks whispered to me stories of centuries. In the evening, in Avlemonas, under the light of the stars, I tasted local delicacies and listened to stories about sailors and sirens.
In the Footsteps of Fairies
Mylopotamos, a village straight out of a fairy tale, welcomed me with its traditional beauty. The cobblestone streets and the Venetian castle of Kato Chora took me on a journey to another era, where legends came to life in every corner. At the Neraida waterfalls, and at the enchanting location of Myloi, one of the top sights in Kythira, the coolness and lush vegetation created a magical atmosphere, where the sound of the water was like a melody. At the magnificent Monastery of Myrtidiotissa, the serenity and spirituality of the island embraced me, while the view of the sea took my breath away. In the evening, in Kato Livadi, local flavors, such as “rosé” and “tsirigotika”, took me on a gastronomic experience full of authenticity.
The Farewell
The River, with its traditional market and picturesque cafes, gave me a last taste of the authentic life of the island. In the cave of Agia Sophia, the stalactites and stalagmites revealed to me the secrets of the earth, while two of the most beautiful beaches in Kythira, Halkos and Melidoni, offered me a last moment of relaxation under the sun. With a heart full of images and memories, I said goodbye to Kythera, the island of Aphrodite, which enchanted me with its beauty and history.
My trip to Kythira was not just a visit to an island, but a journey to the heart of mythology and history. Every corner of the island hid a story, every beach whispered a secret, every village brought a legend to life. Kythera, an island where myth and reality become one, will forever remain etched in my memory.
