Agios Petros

A rare gem!
The small church of Agios Petros is located just outside the village of Mylopotamos in the settlement of Araoi, in the center-west of Kythira. The Church is considered one of the most important on the island, and dates between the 10th and 12th centuries, its architectural style is Byzantine cruciform inscribed in a dome. Its frescoes are of excellent quality, the work of an important painter of the 15th century or so.
